Student Independent or Group Research Ideas

  

Could research in the classroom, library, or computer lab; as a class, for extension etc:

  • Tons 

               – trucks, cars, tow trucks

               – animals, baby elephants, rhinos

  • Exchange rates in different countries against the Australian dollar and could graph changes in them over time
  • Could do a country study – what is different in maths: units of measurement in US, time zone and therefore time, maximum and minimum temperatures in various seasons, value of the dollar against Australian dollar, denominations of the currency.
  • Could research theme parks around the world in terms of : size (area), number of rides, metres of track for the roller coaster, height of biggest drop.
  • Could research bridges of the world as to height, length etc.
  • World weather
  • World time, time zones, use of daylight savings, hours of daylight experienced
  • Study chance in lotteries and lotto ie chance of winning.
